Harnessing the Sports
Blockchain for Social Change
We’ve teamed up with Common Goal, football’s biggest philanthropic movement, to help them drive greater social change. And, through Socios.com Supports, the social impact arm of our pioneering fan engagement and rewards app, we’re helping to create new opportunities for people in their local communities by empowering young adults and removing barriers.
Common Goal unites the global football community to drive social change in critical areas including Racial Justice, Mental Health, Gender Equity, LGBTQ+ inclusion and Climate Change. We’ve teamed up with them to increase their impact with a long-term plan that includes:
- Using Chiliz Chain to deliver more on-chain transactions and increase transparency.
- Delivering Web3 communities where Common Goal can build direct relationships with fans.
- Committing 1% of all future Fan Token Offering (FTO®) revenue from Socios.com.
The One Shirt Pledge asked players to donate matchworn shirts to be sold at auction through our partners Matchwornshirt.com with all proceeds going to Common Goal.
More than 30 items were donated, with Common Goal co-founder Juan Mata, Socios.com Supports ambassador Jermaine Jenas and stars including Victor Osimhen, Giorgio Chiellini and Christian Romero pledging. We provided proof of authenticity on-chain and added NFC chips, including video pledges from the players, to every item as this milestone campaign raised over €16k for the Common Goal fund.
Objectives
Starting in the Premier League, Socios.com Supports is pledging more than €2M over the 2023/24 & 2024/25 seasons to back partner initiatives, investing in causes and projects that remove barriers and encourage people to be part of their local communities, focusing on three key areas; Mental Health, Inclusion and Life Chances for young adults.
