Paris, 14 October 2025:— Chiliz, the world’s leading blockchain provider for the sports and entertainment industry, has announced the successful activation of its “Snake8” hard fork on Chiliz Chain. The upgrade, which went live today at 11:00 AM CEST, transitions the network to a performance-based validator rewards system designed to foster greater competition and reward community trust.
The Snake8 hardfork overhauls the block production algorithm for validators. Previously, all validators had a roughly equal opportunity to produce blocks and earn rewards, regardless of the amount of CHZ staked on their node. With the activation of Snake8, the probability of a validator being selected to produce the next block will be directly proportional to the total amount of CHZ delegated to them. This change incentivises validators to actively contribute to the ecosystem and build trust within the community to attract more staked CHZ, thereby earning greater rewards.

The Snake8 hardfork is the latest in a series of strategic upgrades that underscore Chiliz Chain’s commitment to continuous evolution. It follows the successful Dragon8 hardfork in 2024, which introduced a sophisticated new tokenomics model (Tokenomics 2.0), and the recent Pepper8 hardfork, which expanded the ecosystem through the integration of Paribu Net.
